The first 12 days of the year, 12 works...

This is the 8th day of the New Year ... representing August!

The spiritual Master Omraam Mikhael Aïvanhov always invited us to pay attention to the first 12 days of the new year. If we imagine that each of these first 12 days symbolizes the twelve months of the new year, when we decide to give them a special impetus, it strengthens our resolutions and helps get the year started on the right track. This is why we are offering you a small 'white stone' marker for each of those 12 days - a special extract from Omraam Mikhael Aïvanhov's Teachings, to reflect on during the day.

We hope you will find these helpful and that this daily practice will have a positive and lasting effect throughout the year.

January 8,

Our ideas determine
our actions

You say that you never ease up on your efforts to transform yourself but that you have little to show for it; that all your good resolutions come to nothing. Don’t be discouraged; a profound transformation cannot be achieved all at once: it takes time. Sooner or later, if you keep your good resolutions constantly in mind, you will end up behaving in accordance with your wishes.

Look at a snake going into its hole: the head goes in first and, however long its body may be, in the end the tail is bound to follow. Because a snake moves in a sinuous curve, the tail often seems to be going in the opposite direction to the head; in the end, though, it always goes exactly where the head has gone: head and tail are not separated from each other and the tail always follows the head.

Symbolically, the head represents the faculty of thought and reason, the ability to decide on a direction; and the rest of the body, which represents the practical application, the concrete realization, necessarily follows the lead of the head.
This is why it is so valuable to cultivate the right kind of thinking: even if your actions don’t fully correspond to your thoughts yet, if you persevere with the right mental attitude, you will end up overcoming all your inner resistance and acting in obedience with the spirit.
