Once humans have learned to love without expecting to be …

Once humans have learned to love without expecting to be loved, they will be free, and they will be able to do a great deal with this freedom. But do they truly value their freedom? They claim to, of course, but in reality they only want to be chained down. You could even say freedom weighs heavily on them, it bores them; they don’t know what to do with it. Whereas, constraints, even blows, at least keep them occupied: yes, suffering, complaining, crying… Well, it’s nothing to be proud of. Disciples must learn to resolve the problem of love by understanding that the essential thing is that they themselves love, love day and night, love all creatures, as the sun does. It sends its love through space without worrying about who it will fall on, or whether it will fall on anyone or everyone, and certainly not whether it will receive any response to its love. The most important thing is to allow this heavenly energy to pass through us, for it’s this energy which fills us with a sense of expansion, wonder and inspiration. The day you understand this and are capable of living it, you will truly be free.
