Human Dignity - respect for the gifts of God
We sometimes hear people talk about someone having lost their human dignity, or someone else who managed to preserve theirs. But for many people the notion of dignity is not clear; they have a tendency to confuse it with pride or self-esteem. No, true human dignity is a respect for all that God has given us, firstly our physical body, but also our heart, mind, soul and spirit. As disciples of a spiritual teaching, you must be imbued with the idea that you are temples, tabernacles of the Eternal into which you must allow only pure food, thoughts, words and feelings to enter or leave. Those who do not keep a careful watch over what goes in and out of them, who exercise no discrimination over what they say, think or do, have no sense of their true human dignity.
