Sorrows - methods for getting rid of them

There are other ways of dealing with our sorrows and problems than by rushing to burden our friends and neighbours with them. When you feel depressed or irritable, stay quietly at home and do some work with light; pray, meditate, sing or listen to some music. Or you can go out for a walk in nature, and breathe deeply while communing with the earth, the trees and the sky. Put off going to see your family and friends until you feel unburdened, and able to bring them something good, luminous and constructive.* Observe yourself and you will see that you often do just the opposite: when things are going badly, you are quick to share your troubles with others, and when all is well you have nothing to say to them. How extraordinary that when all is well, you have nothing to say! Surely there is something here that needs to be put right. Would it not be better to learn to share only your positive states of mind with those around you?
