"During the course of a year the sun passes through four cardinal points, and each of these four periods is marked by a tremendous input and circulation of energies which affect the earth and its inhabitants: plants, animals, human beings, and even to other planets. Initiates, who have studied these phenomena thanks to their extremely well developed faculties, tell us that if humans are attentive and receptive to these currents, great transformations can take place within them. This is why Initiates gave a number of methods for humans to receive these currents."
"During most of the year man and nature are both very active but, as winter approaches, many kinds of work are brought to a halt, the days grow shorter and the nights longer ; the time is ripe for meditation and recollection; it is time for men to enter into the depths of their own being and make things ready for the birth of the Child."

"Why do we celebrate Christmas in the beginning of winter? The answer is found in the Book of Nature. All life begins with a seed, buried in the darkness of the earth or a woman’s womb. Winter is the season when a long work of germination is carried out in the seeds sown in the earth, ending in spring with the birth of a multitude of new existences. And an identical work takes place in the psyche of each human being: in the dark earth of his lower nature, the seed of the divine Self, the Christ, must begin to germinate. It is this event that Christians celebrate on Christmas eve. Yes, it is at night, at midnight, at the moment of the most profound darkness that a birth takes place. This is why, in spite of the cold and dark, Christmas is also the festival of light."
