Death - a better life awaits beyond it

If so many people cling to life and are even ready to commit crimes to survive, it is because they do not know that, beyond death, a better life awaits them. So they incur huge debts which they will one day have to pay off. Disciples of an initiatic school, on the other hand, have a different attitude. They say, ‘Life on earth is a chore. Here, we are limited, trodden upon, scorned, assaulted and harassed. Of course, there is a reason for all this, and I accept it, but one day, when I have finished paying all my debts I will live free and unbounded in space.’ Truly spiritual people know this to be true, and this is why they persist with their work here on earth, even though they know how much happier they would be in the next world. As long as they have not settled everything and completed the task given to them by heaven, the rest does not matter to them. They do not think about death or anything else, they just want to finish their work. But as soon as this work is done, they have little inclination to stay, because they know that the earth is not worth clinging to.*
