Devil - he possesses only the power that we give him

Every misdeed is an open door that allows evil entities to enter and torment you; so, the first thing these entities do, when they want to harm you, is try to entice you into doing something wrong. Suppose that you resist them and do not make any mistakes; then they are powerless. That is why I tell you that the devil possesses only the power that you yourself have given him. If you do not want to have anything to do with him, do not open the door to him. He does not force you; he just makes suggestions, and it is you who agrees. Most people imagine that their troubles arrive suddenly, out of the blue. No, they prepare the conditions, throw open their doors and invite all these troubles in. How? By means of their inferior desires, thoughts and feelings, by means of certain weaknesses and misdeeds. At that precise moment, the devil sees an open door and goes inside.*
