Diamond - symbol of our inner unity

Those who allow all sorts of contradictory thoughts and desires to pass through their mind keep themselves in a state of confusion and so should not be surprised if things no longer make any sense. How many people complain, 'I feel lost!' Why? Because they wanted too many ill-assorted things, and now that they have amassed them they're up to their neck in complexity. What makes a diamond so pure? The fact that it is not mixed; it is pure carbon. Add another element to it, and it is no longer a diamond. In the same way, those who wish to taste everything, touch everything, experiment with everything and know everything lose their diamond quality and become no more than opaque stones. True disciples must head in one direction only, must have one ideal, one desire, one food, symbolically speaking. Then, they will experience the light passing through them, as it does through a diamond.
