Duplicate - the imprint of our every action, good or bad

Everything in nature exists in duplicate. Whatever you do always has its ‘carbon copy’. If you help someone or, on the contrary, injure them, the original action disappears, but the imprint, the signature, the memory of it remains within you. If you do a good deed for somebody, that good deed goes away but it leaves its mark, an imprint of the same nature, within you. And if you do evil, the evil action leaves you, but its identical double remains and continues its work of destruction and disintegration. Look at what happens for instance when a person commits a crime. Why does the memory, the imprint of it, continue to haunt them? The crime itself is over and done with; it is a thing of the past; there is no visible clue to it and the criminal is safe from discovery. True, but the duplicate of their act stays with them, and it is this that constantly conjures up memories and images from which they can only free themselves by atoning for their crime.
