‘If you have faith the size of a mustard seed’ - commentary

Faith is the result of efforts repeated day after day. It is a living thing which we must never separate from our daily life. We must understand this if we are to decipher the meaning of Jesus’ words: ‘If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain: move from here to there, and it will move…’ Yes, we can move a mountain, provided we do not go at it with the idea that we can move it all at once. We can move a mountain, but only by transferring one stone at a time. Each stone moved, or in other words, every success achieved, however small, increases our faith, because we feel more solid, stronger and more in charge of things. Glancing behind us, we measure the distance we have travelled. It is just possible that already, with half the work done, our faith has been reinforced to such an extent that we can move all the rest in one go.
