Life, divine - the initiates’ food

Initiates need to take in nourishment, just like other human beings. And taking in nourishment means not just eating and drinking, but loving, too. But what initiates seek to do is to find nourishment in the divine life, that is, in what is most subtle in people. And when they come across fruits and flowers - that is, human beings who carry this life within them - they focus their attention on them and say to themselves, 'These are aspects of the heavenly Father, of the divine Mother. Thank you, Lord; thank you, divine Mother. By means of these fruits and flowers, I am able to draw closer to you today, to contemplate you; through their splendour I can breathe in your perfumes, taste your flavours.' And without even touching the person, they go away happy, because these fruits and flowers have enabled them to draw closer to heaven.
