Love - sorting what you are offered

Generally speaking, a fruit is made up of three elements: the skin that we discard, the flesh that we eat and the stone that we plant. You will say that you know all this. Well no, for if you did, you would not make so many mistakes in your life. Say, for example, that a man (or a woman) tells you every day of their love for you. You take their words and you eat them, you swallow them whole without sorting them out. Later, you find yourself in the midst of a tragedy. Why? Because you have not understood the lesson of the fruit. This man or this woman had no doubt put some very good and beautiful elements into their love and words, and you were right to eat them. But you should have known that, coming from a human being, they also contained elements which were all too human and which you should have left aside. Yes, love is a very complex issue. In the love you are offered, there are always elements you must reject, others you can accept and one further element that you should plant in your soul. That is why you should say to the person who loves you: ‘Give me some time. Before giving you an answer, I must first plant the stone. The fruit is succulent, but I want to know what sort of tree it will produce.’
