Lower Nature - serving it both weakens us and makes us unhappy
Instead of striving to improve themselves, human beings prefer to protect their lower nature. They are at the service of their own weaknesses, desires and whims. They do not even try to see where their thoughts, feelings and desires come from; they just have to sense the stirring of a thought or feeling within themselves to give in to it immediately. And then they are astonished to see that after giving expression to all their impulses, they feel weakened and unhappy. The truth is that if you want to become powerful and happy, you must learn to submit to the divine laws. Yes, contrary to what most people think, it is when you obey these laws that you become powerful and happy, not when you oppose them. Sooner or later, those who oppose the divine laws are broken.
