Praying - crying out

If you knew how to observe life all around you and learn from it, you would find ways of getting out of your difficulties. Let's take an example from everyday life. Who taught children, who revealed to them the power of the spoken word? When they feel they are in danger, they cry out, 'Mummy!' Where did children learn to use this magical word? If they didn't cry out, their mother wouldn't know they were in danger. But she hears them calling, and she rushes to their rescue. So, why is it that humans, when they are in difficulty, do not have the same instinctive reaction as children? Why do they not once, even, cry out to heaven?
