Work - rely only on that

Learn not to rely on anything or anyone: not on your family, not on your friends, not even on the Lord – no, not even on the Lord! – only on your work. Why? Because thanks to your work you will then be able to rely on the whole universe. When farmers sow a field, they can rely on the sun, the rain and the dew to play their part in making the seeds grow. But if they have sown nothing, there is no point in relying on anything. Even the Lord is not keen for us to rely so much on him. And don’t go telling him that religion has taught you to turn to him whenever you are in need, as he will reply, ‘Those who have taught you are ignorant because they did not tell you that the laws of the spiritual world are identical to those of the physical world. I cannot alter these laws to please the lazy. If you want me to come to your aid, you have to start by working.’ So it is up to us to do something first to trigger the psychic and spiritual processes that will allow us to carry out our best plans.
