‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’ - what does loving ourselves mean?

‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’, said Jesus. So, unlike all the pessimists and misanthropists who preach self-hatred, Jesus thinks we must love ourselves. Yes, but how? Or, rather, what must we love in ourselves? If so many people are so bad at loving themselves, it is because they do not know the answer to this question. They do not know that what they must love in themselves is the divine Principle alive in them. God has created us in his image, and we express this image through our spirit, our soul, our mind and our heart, and through our physical body too. So loving ourselves means also loving our body, and not because it can be an instrument of pleasure or seduction. The way we must love our body is to think gratefully of those good servants, our eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, feet, as well as all our organs, which allow us to express God’s presence within us.
