It is written in the book of Zohar: ‘Seven lights there are in the Most High, and it is there that the Ancient of Ancients lives, the Mysterious of the Mysterious, the Hidden of the Hidden: Ain Soph.’ These seven lights are the seven spirits that stand before the throne of God: the spirit of life, of love: the red light; the spirit of holiness: the orange light; the spirit of wisdom: the yellow light; the spirit of eternity: the green light; the spirit of truth: the blue light; the spirit of force: the indigo light; and the spirit of divine love, of sacrifice: the violet light. These are the seven spirits of the divine virtues. This science of light and colour was the science of the ancient hierophants, and it is also the science of the Christ. The world was created by means of light, and if man learns to work with light, he too can become a creator. Even if one day all sciences were to disappear, the science of light and of the colours which are its properties would endure.
