Those who penetrate the mysteries of the number 1, or the letter Aleph (which in Hebrew corresponds to the number 1), are able to understand all the other numbers and letters, in other words all the powers operating in the universe. For everything is included, integrated and resolved in unity, since the divine Word – which comprises both letters and numbers – is a continuous substance in which nothing is separated or divided into different parts. Everything is connected, and each element is part of a grand unity. This is why those who truly want to advance on the path of initiation must concentrate on unity. What is the number 1? Graphically, it is a simple line, straight and unadorned: 1. When we look at it, we see nothing very significant, but in fact the number 1 is the dynamic, creative principle. It is the source of life, and the preservation of all life depends upon it.
