When faced with any difficulty that arises, get into the habit of first considering the best inner attitude to adopt, before you resort to any other solution. This is what will allow you to deal successfully with any situation. For example, begin by saying to yourself, ‘There’s nothing much to worry about, the problems will pass, they won’t last.’ You are surprised. You don’t think that method could be effective? But it can; the thought that our problems won’t last is the very thing that helps us to bear them. And besides, it’s true, just think about it: how often in the past have you had disappointments, sadness or problems which, at the time, appeared insurmountable, but now, when you look back on them, all seem so distant, virtually non-existent, and you wonder why you were so upset and desperate. Well then, since you have all had these experiences, don’t you think it might be worth using this method?
