Thought has great powers, but it is unreasonable to try to …

Thought has great powers, but it is unreasonable to try to persuade people that they can cure themselves by means of thought, because most of them are incapable of doing so. If you become ill, consult a doctor. And do so at the onset of your illness; do not wait until it has become incurable. Even those who decide to act on their illness with thought – which can always accelerate the process of healing – must have recourse to medical treatment, because their illness may progress much faster than their thoughts can work. Of course, if you are determined to verify how thought works, you can rely on this alone. Provided the illness is not serious and develops very slowly, it will eventually give way. But if it is a matter of something serious which is progressing rapidly, you must immediately seek care and even agree to surgical intervention if it is called for.
