It is their lower natures that motivate people to seek money, to satisfy their greed, their need to dominate others or to exact revenge. Our higher nature does not crave money, it needs only light, freedom, heavenly splendour, and infinity – and money cannot provide these. It is true that money is necessary for material life: you need a house and adequate furnishings. But for the soul, the spirit, or the mind, money is useless. Neither gold nor silver have ever driven away inner darkness. If you seek money and not light – that is to say, the knowledge of initiatic science, an expanded consciousness, a love of God and all creatures – it is obvious that you are controlled by your lower nature. And if you love light, it shows that you already possess gold in the spiritual realm and, thanks to this gold, you can buy health, beauty, power, wisdom, love and freedom.
