It may be possible to get to the top in human society by making a lot of noise, hitting out at others and eliminating one’s rivals, but the only way to get to the top in the spiritual world is by constant, conscientious work. Only in this way is it possible to impose one’s will on the forces of nature and one’s lower self, and become a divinity. In the physical world, people jostle others and try to topple them so as to take their place – and they often succeed. But they should know that they cannot evolve if they behave like that, and even their worldly successes will not last. For there is a law – a universal law promulgated by the Twenty-Four Elders – which allows human beings to receive only what they deserve. Yes, the forces of nature know what you do, what you are capable of, and what you are worth, and they arrange things in such a way that you always get exactly what you deserve.
