It is easy to study the physical world: we can weigh, measure and draw the contours of every element, and we readily agree about numbers and forms. But the psychic world, the inner world, is another matter. How can we map the regions of the soul and spirit? How can we measure and weigh states of consciousness or draw the contours of thoughts and feelings? But this is precisely the advantage of the inner world: because there is nothing material in it, it is safe from external attack.
