Everywhere people talk of nothing but changes. Again and again they say that changes are needed… And what are these changes? Always the same relentless struggles for power, money and honours… with some getting rid of others so they can take their place. No, real change will only take place when humans work to become more honest and noble, more masters of themselves… examples. But they are not interested in that. What is the use of improving? That’s not what they need; they need positions and titles to satisfy their desires and their greed. You will say, ‘Yes, but if we have to follow your advice and only work to improve ourselves, to become examples, with the world the way it is, we’ll be left on the bottom rung of the ladder somewhere, unknown and unrecognized.’ What makes you draw such conclusions? If you truly become a source, a sun, even if you object or refuse, others will come and forcibly place you at the top to govern them. If that hasn’t happened to you yet, it is because you don’t deserve it, because you are not yet ready.
