The activity of the intellect is insufficient for genuine …

The activity of the intellect is insufficient for genuine understanding. In its true sense, understanding is not acquired by a few cells in the brain; it also takes place in the heart, the stomach, the liver...even in the hands and feet. The whole body, every cell must participate in it. True understanding is a sensation. You feel it, then you understand and you know, because you have tasted it. Nothing that you understand intellectually can compare to what you feel. When you experience love, when you feel hate, anger, or grief, you know what it is, and you sense that your whole being is involved. Perhaps you are not able to explain it, but no one will be able to convince you that you do not know it, because this is true knowledge: to feel things with one's whole being.
