Daily life for humans is a continual movement to and fro …

Daily life for humans is a continual movement to and fro between the inner and the outer: they’re either leaving for work, going shopping or meeting someone, or they’re coming back home again. If you were to interpret these comings and goings, you could say people leave the centre (their home) and go towards the periphery (their occupations and so on), and then they leave the periphery and return to the centre. Their motives for going out are of two kinds: either to take, earn or pilfer, or else to give, help and be useful. The motives that humans have for leaving the house and going about their business fall into one of two categories. The thousands of possible nuances can always be summarized by the words ‘to take’ or ‘to give’.
