If you are ‘going in search of’ the truth, this is the best way not to find it. If you expect to come across something about which you can say: ‘Here is the truth!’ you are mistaken. Truth is the world we are immersed in. We are bound to it, we are one with it, and it is impossible to separate ourselves from it. We live in truth, we eat it and breathe it, we exist in it and it exists in us. You must therefore stop thinking that it can come to you from the outside. What can come from the outside are encounters with people, objects, books or works of art which awaken intimations of the truth in you, but that is all.
