Love - save it by devoting it to God

Human beings too often identify love with pleasure, and this is why their love becomes poison in the end. To save their love they need to become aware of the work they can do with it and devote it to God by saying, ‘Lord, I devote these energies I feel bubbling up inside me to serving your glory and to the coming of your Kingdom.’ Of course only a few men and women will accept this idea of love many will even find it ridiculous. They think their feelings and emotions concern only themselves and have nothing to do with Heaven. But if they do not concern Heaven, it is hell that comes to get involved and have its say. When someone claims, ‘My love concerns only me,’ this ‘me’, who seeks only to enjoy pleasure in a selfish way, is already on the road to hell. Why do men and women exclude Heaven from their love? It seems as if they are ashamed and are trying to hide from it. But they feel no shame when it comes to hell. Well, then they should not complain if there comes a time when they have the feeling of living hell.
