Matter does not exist solely on the physical plane but on the etheric, astral and mental planes as well. If they had worked with the spirit alone, how could they have learned all the secrets of minerals, plants and the human body? It is just that their understanding of matter was much broader, much vaster than that of today’s scientists, who still do not know what matter really is.
