Initiates have understood the process of atomic fission for thousands of years, and during their meditations they are able by means of thought to disintegrate some thousandths of a milligram of their brain. It is from the energy thus freed that they draw their immense powers; they apply the principle of atomic fission to their own brain, which is a substance of extraordinary richness. Some may say: ‘I too know how to disintegrate matter: I had a fever of 40 degrees and lost three kilos.’ Yes, but in losing these kilos you lost your strength – the fever weakened you – whereas energy is freed from the minuscule particles that are disintegrated during meditation as it is practised by the initiates. That these particles are replaced by others of even greater luminosity and purity makes them all the more beneficial and life-enhancing. We must learn to distinguish between expenditures of energy that enrich and those that impoverish.
