People always feel justified in working exclusively for their own interests and well-being. But this is not a good solution, because if the collectivity suffers a misfortune, they will be affected as well. To the extent that the collectivity as a whole is not living in prosperity and peace, the individuals within it are exposed to poverty or hardship. If, on the other hand, the affairs of the collectivity are going well, all individuals benefit from this, and if adversity strikes one of them, the others will come to his aid. Contrary to what people imagine, egotism is enormously costly. Unfortunately, as long as this situation lasts, people will continue to work for their own good, convinced that in doing so they are securing their future. No! As soon as misfortune befalls the collectivity, their own little world will collapse, for they are part of this collectivity and share in its vulnerability.
