Many people are not afraid of devils and the darkness of hell, but they are terrified of the light. That is quite understandable : they feel deep within themselves that they still need to live in an inferior way so they instinctively flee a light which has the power to illuminate their lives, showing up their dull, mediocre, and even criminal behaviour. They do not want to be rid of their bad habits and do not tolerate anything which could spotlight the fact that these habits are faulty. People who want to make no effort to improve themselves close their eyes, stop their ears and convince themselves they are fine as they are. Those who fear the light do not quite know why, but instinctively they feel there is something to fear. Only those who sincerely seek to progress and transform themselves look for this light, which emphasizes all that needs to be improved, and shows how to put these improvements into practice.
