God has made laws, but it is not He who punishes us if we fail to abide by them. That is the task of other beings, just as it is in human society. A legislator makes laws, but it is not he who watches people to see whether or not they obey them. Other officials are designated for that task, and when they discover transgressions, they bring the guilty before the courts of law which condemn them. Well, the same applies to the laws decreed by God - or rather, by Cosmic Intelligence. If you disobey them, there will always be courts of law to find you guilty and punish you, and, if it is not a court of law, it will be your own inner courts of justice, which are far more terrible. At the moment you may feel you will go unpunished, and you may even be proud of what you have done, but one day you will not be able to evade your own inner tribunal, and it is then that you will really understand the divine laws.
