Some thinkers, observing how negative the influence of family can be, want to remedy this by calling into question the very existence of family. In their view, children should be brought up not by their family but by institutions administered by the State. These are deplorable concepts that have catastrophic results. Estranged from their parents, children become little monsters and in some circumstances even go so far as to denounce them to the police. This is horrible! No, the family must not be destroyed. The ties that bind the members of a family are sacred. The family must be protected; we simply need to broaden our understanding of it. This will require a great deal of work, and it is now up to young people to bring it about.
