Sometimes you tell yourself, ‘Oh! I should have been more …

Sometimes you tell yourself, ‘Oh! I should have been more patient!’ But it’s too late, and the fact is, at the point where you explode with anger or indignation, you always find an excuse for yourself. So begin by never looking to justify yourself when you lose patience. Then, concentrate on this virtue, and think of what some people have had to endure during the course of their life. Study how they have reacted, and take them as your example. Patience is one of the good qualities of Saturn. Saturn is the old man who has lived through a great deal, meditated a great deal and understood a great deal. Obviously, you can’t ask children to be particularly patient; it’s a quality that comes with age, great age even. When an elderly person is impatient, it shows they haven’t learnt a great deal in life. People’s wisdom is measured by their capacity to endure things.
