The capacity to embark on a divine, magnificent endeavour and follow it through unflinchingly is one of the rarest qualities. That is why a collectivity, or spiritual brotherhood, is necessary, even indispensable, for the proper evolution of human beings; it gives them the best conditions for persevering in their efforts. You are inspired by a book you’ve read and decide to improve your way of life, to do some exercises, but if you are alone you are bound to discontinue your efforts after a certain time, because you are not stimulated. However, if you are part of a collectivity, a spiritual brotherhood, you are influenced by its atmosphere and by other people’s example. Then, even if you are tired, discouraged and feel like abandoning everything, you receive new impetus, and you continue your work.
