We so often hear, 'If only God existed, if justice existed …

We so often hear, 'If only God existed, if justice existed in the world, the good would be rewarded and the bad would be punished.' In reality, good people are rewarded and the bad are punished, but not immediately. Why? There are many reasons, and here is one of them: If the law immediately punished human beings for their faults, they would be wiped out and would not even be able to improve themselves. Whereas, if they are given time, if they receive a few lessons forcing them to think a little, they have a chance to rectify things. And those who do good are not rewarded right away either; otherwise they would also let themselves go and would end by transgressing the laws. Heaven lets trials strengthen them so that they may be assured and learn to know themselves, and so, realize how much good they can do. Therefore, there are reasons why divine laws manifest so slowly. But it is absolutely true that good brings good and that evil ends up... very badly.
