‘The Lord is my shepherd’ - comment

You say you look for God. But you will never find him if you do not first learn to look for him within yourself. By looking for him within, you will cause extremely potent energies pour forth in your soul and spirit. You will feel supported and driven by these energies and they will enable you to advance steadily on all of life’s paths. Christians sing the Psalm, ‘The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.’ Yes, but many repeat the words mechanically, unconsciously, not realising their power. In truth, this shepherd is within them, and because he is within them, he extends his power and his protection to the immense flock of their cells, to which he gives food and drink. Nothing is more important than fostering the awareness of the presence of God within. Thanks to this presence, to the idea of this presence, everything becomes ordered, serene, attuned, balanced, and harmonious. And the ‘green pastures’ and the ‘still waters’ in the Psalm become meaningful images.
