Legend has it that the poet Orpheus received a seven-stringed lyre with magical powers from the god Apollo. When he sang, accompanying himself on this instrument, he captivated gods and men, tamed ferocious beasts and could even move boulders. In reality, we each possess this seven-stringed lyre which has so stirred the imagination of poets and musicians. Yes, we possess it, for we ourselves are this lyre. Its seven strings represent our seven bodies: physical, etheric, astral, mental, causal, buddhic and atmic. Each string, each body, has its own vibration and is meant to put us in communication with a specific region of the visible and invisible worlds and its inhabitants. So that we can enter into harmonious relationship with these regions, we must work every day on our different bodies. This is a work of purification, illumination and resurrection.
